Stara Komenda Brewery is a restaurant located in an old police station. The menus look like old case files and feature food focused on meat and potatoes. This place is also a brewery with good seasonal beer.
Overall, I wouldn’t call Stara Komenda’s food the best in Szczecin. The atmosphere is good, though, the servers speak English, and as long as there aren’t any vegetarians in your group, I think you won’t be disappointed.
My dining companion was Flemming. He works at a newspaper in Bergen Norway and is passionate about whiskey tasting. There is a direct flight from Bergen to Szczecin so Flemming decided to visit Szczecin out of curiosity.
Flemming ordered the pork dish and mentioned that the meat was very tender. He also said that the beer was good. I think between his experienced opinion and the groups of people drinking copious amounts of the stuff, we can recommend Stara Komenda for the beer alone.
I ordered the chicken and I would say it was “ok.” I have eaten here a few times and am yet to be blown away by the food. That being said, I would recommend coming here for lunch. They have a 15PLN lunch special everyday between 1 and 4pm. It includes a small bowl of soup and a main meal.
Flemming said he enjoyed his stay in Szczecin. He thought the castle was beautiful. He enjoyed the food at Bombay and beer at Wyszak Brewery. Here’s a link to Flemming’s BLOG!
