Plac Orla Bialego
“Elegant European Square”
This is a beautiful little square with some great restaurants and cafes, including my favorite restaurant in Szczecin, Trattoria Toscana . In the spring and summer, this is a great place to take advantage of the outdoor seating and enjoy the beautiful view of the Art Academy, the Music school, the Cathedral and of course the beautiful 18th century fountain in the middle of the square. This is a great place for a romantic date
“New” Old Town
If you are a foodie and are looking to satisfy your discerning palate I would recommend you go to the New Old Town. It’s name comes from the fact that it was almost completely bombed in WWII and has been lovingly restored in the shape of the old town, but with a modern flare. This place is full of restaurants and wine bars. Outdoor seating is available in spring and summer.
Avenue of Fountains
“See and Be Seen”
The avenue of fountains was the place to be in the 80s and then it was forgotten for about 20 years. In the last 5 years or so the fountains have been refurbished and new cafes and restaurants have opened here.
I like to have a bite or a coffee and then walk straight down the Pope John Paul II avenue to the Kasprowicz Park. What a perfect way to spend an afternoon or evening!
Boguslawa X Promenade
“Drinking and Having Fun”
If you like bar hopping this is the place for you! This is the perfect place if you want to have some drinks and socialize. Each bar along the promenade has its own unique flair and you will surely find one in which to sit down and have a bite too! Krowa has the best burgers in Szczecin!
Odra River Promenade
“Perfect Place for a Stroll”
Like many other places in Szczecin the river bank along the Odra river has recently been refurbished. You can take a walk, or ride a bike, along the river, passing Wały Chrobrego and walk all the way to the train station. There are cafes and restaurants along the way. This is a great place for people watching!
“Szczecinianins in their Native Habitat”
This was supposed to be a list of 5 places but I couldn’t leave out Jasne Błonia, the lawn behind the City hall building. There is free wifi here and, weather permitting, tons of young people come here and sit on blankets with their laptops. There are a few ice cream shops and cafes near by. This is the ultimate people watching spot in Szczecin!
